Katrin de Louw, owner of the company “Trendfilter – Designzukunft für Möbel und Materialien” (Trendfilter – Future Design for Furniture and Materials) and founder of Colornetwork, is keen to move away from fashionable colours and towards “Sustained Colour”. In this interview, she explains how she intends to do that.
Every year, the COLORNETWORKⓇ combines trend-setting products of interior design with sustainable responsibility on a common, long-term and easily combinable trend color for the coming decade, the ‘Sustained Color’.
Every year, TRENDFILTERⓇ invites renowned designers and interior designers to discuss, as part of a committee of experts, pioneering shades of colors and to critically review materials and surfaces in order to define the ‘Sustained Color’ for the network of the coming year.
Colours play a key role in interior design. You don’t need to be a colour psychologist to know that colours influence our moods and that the right colour accents can significantly improve our perception of a space. Until now, however, the topic of sustainability has not made much impact in the field of colour. That’s something the new project “Colornetwork: Design with Care” now hopes to change.
