europlac – manufacturer of innovative precious wood materials has received the prestigious and worldwide recognised German Design Award 2018 as “Winner” for EDELHOLZ Formenhybrid in the category Material and Surfaces – the prize that visualises success.

The German Design Award honours innovative products and projects, their manufacturers and designers, who are leading the way in the German and international design landscape. This is guaranteed by the high-calibre, international jury. The German Design Award discovers and presents unique design trends: a competition that brings the design-oriented economy forward.

Now, the europlac EDELHOLZ Formenhybrid has now been honoured. It unites technologies from three different areas and creates a material that sets fully new standards in its diversity and originality.

The precious wood layers of up to 1.5 mm thickness are made flexible by means of an innovative vaporiser technology, which can then be pressed in a second step by means of a vacuum press into 3d moulds. By the "refining" of the precious woods with digital printing there can be features plotted according to the trends which are not possible with a normal surface treatment. The combination with the equally innovative calender roll technology, with which structures can be inserted into the precious woods, makes Formenhybrid perfect.

It is ecological, economical and unique in terms of design variety. It goes without saying that the europlac EDELHOLZ Formenhybrids are glued without formaldehyde.
